Octagon were contacted by Mr & Mrs L to install an intruder alarm system due to an increase in crime in their area. Burglaries were on the rise, and they knew that having an alarm system in place is a great deterrent against would-be criminals. It is an unfortunate reality that thieves target homes with no visible security, so for Mr and Mrs L being unsecured any longer was not an option.
Project Details
All projects begin with a site survey to allow our experienced surveyors to assess the property and discuss with the client what security is recommended. In this case our surveyor suggested the installation of a Texecom intruder alarm that would provide comprehensive protection on the inside of the home as well as visible deterrents on the exterior of the house, in the form of Octagon bell-boxes.

We provided Mr and Mrs L with a quote and very detailed specification, as we do with all clients, to ensure they were knowledgeable about the equipment we were suggesting to install. This gives us peace of mind that the customer is happy their needs are being met, and also lets them rest easily knowing they are being secured by an NSI gold approved company with a great understanding of how to secure our clients to the highest standard.
Once given the go-ahead, we swiftly booked in an installation date and tasked one of our engineers with the job of securing the property. All of our engineer team are security screened to give our customers peace of mind. Our engineer completed the installation within a day, providing the property with top of the range security equipment. Including:
- Control Panel hidden inside a cupboard
- Keypad fitted to the wall in their entrance hall – as seen in the photo
- Pet tolerant PIRs placed in rooms around the property (to allow for the free roaming cat!)
- Shock sensors on windows where thieves may potentially gain access
- An internal sounder in case of activation
- A live external siren in case of activation
- A 2nd bell-box on the rear of the property as a further deterrent

Once complete, Mr and Mrs L were given a full demonstration of the system, and provided with their NSI certificates. Along with the installation, they are also entitled to a full service of their system in a year’s time to ensure everything is still functioning perfectly.
